Message from NMI President Shirley Greene:

Praise & Prayer Report March 2011

Praise God for an awesome Faith Promise Week-end, our missionary speakers Al & Kitty Jones were such a blessing. Our “Back to the 50’s” Pot Luck & Auction was very fun and successful; we rose over $7000.00 on the auction; thanks to all who donated and to Kyle Pea our extraordinary auctioneer! We are over half way to our budget with the $33,000.00 that our congregation pledged on Sunday! We will be accepting pledges for the next several weeks.

I am praising God for our new council! We have several returning and new members including four men. Our first meeting was held March 2nd and we elected officers and filled committee assignments. Off to a great start.

Our Mission’s booth and the Welcome booth have a new location! We will have a much better opportunity to educate our church family on the importance of Missions.

Please pray that we will have more individuals turn in their Faith Promise Pledge Cards. I would like to see everyone commit to missions whether it is through prayer or financially.

Please pray for the Japan Earthquake victims:
The country of Japan was hit with a devastating earthquake today, March 11. Please pray for all those affected. Verne Ward, Asia-Pacific regional director for the Church of the Nazarene said that he was able to talk with Mark Sakamoto, pastor and seminary president in Japan. Dr. Sakamoto said they have not been able to make contact with the pastor or members of the Sendai Church of the Nazarene and that the area has extensive damage. As you pray for people in Japan, ask that they will feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, the great comforter. Pray also for the in-country arm of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and other relief agencies as they mobilize a response to people who are hurting.

Workers for the Harvest:

Scripture tells us in Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” There is a great need for people to hear and respond to God’s call to missions and ministry. Pray with NMI that the Lord will supply workers for the harvest.

Thank you for your faithfulness to pray.
